This five-piece edit combines rich Plum velvet with patterned and textured neutrals for a sophisticated, layered finish.

The two Plum cushions provide the strongest colour within the arrangement. Their deep purple tone is finished with a generous 2.5cm cuff, creating a clean, tailored edge that works beautifully against the softer fringed cushions. 

The Onyx cushion introduces graphic contrast with its distinctive geometric pattern. The maker offers the 50cm Onyx within this set with or without Amber piping, adding a sharper patterned element amongst the softer fabrics. 

The Jasper cushion softens the palette with a subtle neutral herringbone weave and mushroom-coloured fringe. Its cooler neutral tone gives the arrangement a quieter, more tailored layer between the Plum and cream. 

The cream bouclé cushion adds the lightest and most tactile element, combining soft medium-pile bouclé with a mushroom fringe that echoes the Jasper cushion and ties the two neutrals together.

The complete edit therefore includes five 50 × 50cm cushions. 

Each cushion includes a feather insert for a full, relaxed finish. Synthetic inserts are available on request.

This edit has been designed with a larger or corner sofa in mind.

Rather than placing all five cushions evenly across the back of the sofa, divide them into two loose groups. Use a Plum cushion within each group so the deeper colour travels across the sofa, then layer the lighter Jasper and bouclé cushions between or slightly forward of them.

Allow Onyx to provide the point of contrast rather than positioning it centrally by default. An asymmetric arrangement will make the pattern feel more natural and keep the overall styling relaxed.

Because all five cushions are the same size, slight overlaps and different angles become particularly important. This prevents the arrangement from feeling like five matching squares lined up in a row.

The palette works beautifully with cream, oatmeal, stone, mushroom, warm grey and taupe upholstery, while walnut, dark timber, aged brass and warm natural stone complement the richness of the Plum.
